The History of Qualarc, Inc.

Qualarc began its roots from Mailbox Specialties, a company founded in 1993 by Richard and Greg Phelps (brothers) in a small garage workshop in Orangevale, California. The company was started with the concept of providing high quality mailboxes and address signs to discriminating homeowners. Most products were handcrafted in the small workshop then sold door to door by the brothers. In 1996 the company opened its first retail store that specialized in decorative mailboxes and handcrafted address markers many of which were still made in the small workshop. As the company grew it saw the need for high quality mailboxes, address markers and other high quality exterior accents that were not available in the building market. Within a few years the company began manufacturing its own line of cast aluminum lighted address plaques, column mount mailboxes and decorative cluster mailbox units. Many requests from distributors came in and these products began to be sold through lighting and builders hardware showrooms. In 2001 the retail store was closed, a new warehouse/manufacturing facility was opened and the company focused on manufacturing and distributing. The owners saw the need to start a new retail line of products and expand their current selection. In 2006 Qualarc was formed and introduced many new designs including natural stone and crushed stone products. With the emphasis on quality at an affordable price Qualarc products have been a hit with retailers across the nation. Many new products are scheduled for introduction soon, so stay tuned into Qualarc for new offerings.
